The Town is in the process of expanding sewer service to the remainder of incorporated areas of the Town. Discussion has taken place re: cost of such a project, length of time to install and bring to operation status. Cost to homeowners, financial arrangements, etc. Please click on the Brunswick County link below for further information regarding the sewer extension.
The water/wastewater Committee recommended an assessment on a per parcel basis. The assessment was recalculated on this basis. On Monday July 6, 2009 the Calabash Board of Commissioners approved the sewer extension into the entire proposed project area at a assessment maximum of $5,500 per lot/parcel.
Permits are required for the sewer connection. Permit fees are waived but there are still
plumber and electrician fees to be paid and a permit still has to be
completed.
Sewer Line Installation Problems Please use the form below to notify the Town and County of sewer line installation problems. The following are examples of some I've seen.
Manholes above grade to the extent that they may be hit when the lawn is mowed.
"Sink holes" due to line excavation creating low spots and/or holes.
Erosion into under driveway line installation.
Absence of erosion protection (seeding or protective straw).
Erosion washing away seeding or other protection from erosion protection.
Please be as specific as possible since you may not be available when the problem is checked out.
